Before hitting the red carpet for a life of fame and fortune, many of the A-list celebrities we know and love were just regular college students taking part in their school’s student life.

A lot of these celebs actually pledge fraternities and sororities, and still consider themselves as part of these Greek organizations today.

Who knows, you might have a famous “sister” or “brother” you didn’t even know about.

Kourtney Kardashian – Alpha Phi

Kourtney Kardashian attended the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas for only 2 years, but in her sophomore year, she transferred to the University of Arizona where she successfully graduated.

There, she became member of Alpha Phi in the Beta Epsilon Chapter.

Jenna Dewan – Pi Beta Phi

Jenna Dewan Pi Beta Phi

After a successful high school career as a cheerleader and a prom queen, Jenna Dewan went on to attend the University of Southern California where she joined Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

She was already pursuing her dreams of becoming a back-up dancer while in school, and so she did not end up graduating. But she definitely had fun while it lasted.

Matthew McConaughey – Delta Tau Delta

Super chill, very handsome, all-around cool dude Matthew McConaughey attend the University of Texas for school, where he became a proud brother of Delta Tau Delta in 1989.

Even before the fame, we know he was killing it with the ladies. Alright, alright, alright.

Carrie Underwood – Tri Sigma

Blonde and beautiful country singer, Carrie Underwood, was just a regular hometown girl who went to study at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.

While she was there, she joined Sigma Sigma Sigma (Tri Sigma) Sorority and made tight bonds with the sisters there who she is still very close with today.

Jennifer Garner – Pi Beta Phi

Jennifer Garner was studying Chemistry at Denison University when she decided she absolutely hated it and switched to Drama so she could pursue her passion.

At the same time, she also pledged Pi Beta Phi sorority. She later expressed regrets about missing chapter meetings, as she did not have enough time to fully dedicate to the sisterhood with school and a side job. 

Will Ferrel – Tau Delta Tau

Knowing Will Ferrel from his hilarious work on television and in movies, it’s actually pretty easy to picture him as a frat brother.

Ferrel attended the University of Southern California in 1990, and pledged the Tau Delta Tau Fraternity.

His picture looks serious, but we’re sure he was the class clown, even then.

Lucy Liu – Chi Omega

It is no surprise that the super-talented star from Charlie’s Angels, Lucy Liu, was incredibly popular during her college days.

Back when she attended the University of Michigan, she also became a proud member of Chi Omega.

Ty Burrell – Sigma Ki

More specifically, he’s a brother of the Sigma Ki Fraternity at the University of Oregon.

Lynda Carter – Alpha Xi Delta

Lynda Carter, the original Wonder Woman from 1975 pledged to become an Alpha Xi Delta sister at the Arizona State University. Pretty cool, huh?

Harrison Ford – Sigma Nu

Before he was flying through space on the Millenium Flacon with Chubbacca, or even riding through the jungle trying to find the Ark of the Covenant, Harrison Ford was a student enrolled at Ripon College where he pledged as a brother of Sigma Nu back in the early ’60s.

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss – Delta Gamma

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss became a sister of the Delta Gamma sorority during her time at Northwestern.

Although she enjoyed it, she deactivated after only one year of sisterhood and went on to pursue her career in acting. 

John Goodman – Sigma Phi Epsilon 

Everyone knows at least one epic John Goodman movie, but most people don’t realize that he was also a frat bro!

Goodman earned a football scholarship to Missouri State University before he had any inkling of becoming an actor.

He ended up pledging the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity while he was there, although it took him a few years to actually join.

Mariska Hargitay – Kappa Kappa Gamma

The Special Victims Unit isn’t the only elite squad Mariska Hargitay was a part of. She was also a sister of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at UCLA.

She ended up leaving school early to pursue her acting career, but she’s still a proud sister!

Wanda Sykes – Delta Sigma Theta

Comedian and TV show host Wanda Sykes pledged as a sister of Delta Sigma Theta while she was in school at Hampton University.

She was super involved in her chapter, and she still regularly mentions the sorority on her social media platforms.

Mark Zuckerberg – Alpha Epsilon Phi

Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard in his sophomore year in the middle of his degree in Psychology and Computer Science.

Yet, the tech giant had enough time to become an officer at the Jewish fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi at Harvard University.

Luke Bryan – Sigma Chi

Luke Bryan was most likely always a ladies’ man, but before he used his sweet vocal cords to whoo, he used was shooting game as a fraternity brother of Sigma Chi at Georgia Southern University. 

Kamala Harris – Alpha Kappa Alpha

Before deciding to run for senate, Kamala Harris spent her days at Howard University where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Brad Pitt – Sigma Chi

Famous actor and unrefuted heartthrob Brad Pitt attended the University of Missouri from 1982 but dropped out right before graduating.

The Oscar-winning actor was a member of Sigma Chi at the University of Missouri.

Angela Kinsley – Chi Omega

Most people know Angela Kinsley as Angela from The Office, so it probably comes as a shock that she was a sorority girl back when she was in school.

Angela was a sister of Chi Omega at Baylor University, where she was (we imagine) the exact opposite of her character at Dunder Mifflin.

Mike Pence – Phi Gamma Delta

Mike Pence earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History from the Hanover College and a Juris Doctor Law Degree (J.D.) from the Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.

He became the president of his chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at Hanover College.

Elizabeth Banks – Tri Delta

That’s right! Elizabeth Banks was in Delta Delta Delta (Tri Delta) while she was enrolled at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania.

She loved being in a sorority and has spoken about how her experience as a sister living in the Tri Delta sorority house really helped shape her character on Pitch Perfect 2.

Mark Cuban – Pi Lamba Phi

Mark Cuban was way ahead of the rest of his classmates all throughout high school.

After only 3 years of high school, he skipped his senior year and instead started his freshman year of college at the University of Pittsburg.

After a year, he decided to transfer to Indiana University, where he graduated with his Bachelor’s in 1981.

During his freshman (and only) year at the University of Pittsburg, Mark Cuban pledged and became a brother of the Pi Lamba Phi fraternity.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg – Alpha Epsilon Phi

The woman, the myth, the legend herself, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an Alpha Epsilon Phi sister!

She pledged while she was studying at Cornell in the 1950s, though she did later express her dislike of the segregation of the Greek organizations at the time (Alpha Epsilon Phi was exclusively Jewish at the time, though no longer).

Michael Jordan – Omega Psi Phi

Aside from being an absolute legend on the basketball court, Michael Jordan is also a brother of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

He pledged while he was a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

George W. Bush – Delta Kappa Epsilon

In 1964, George W. Bush enrolled at Yale University where he graduated in 1968 earning his Bachelors’s Degree in History.

He later went on to get his Master’s at the Harvard Business School where he earned his MBA in 1975.

During his time enrolled at Yale, George W. Bush became a brother of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and served as its president during his senior year.

Warren Buffett – Alpha Sigma Phi

Warren Buffett initially enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania but ended up transferring to the University of Nebraska where he successfully obtained his Bachelor’s degree.

After graduating, Buffett enrolled for a Master’s degree at Columbia University. Afterward, he also attended the New York Institute of Finance.

While he was at UPENN, Buffett became a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

Meghan Markle – Kappa Kappa Gamma

Before she was royalty…well, ex-royalty now, and even before she was an actress, Meghan Markle was a student at Northwestern University.

While she was enrolled there, she pledged the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and was apparently beloved by all of her sisters (we’re not surprised, honestly).
